Creative Social Media Campaign Examples

Below are a handful of some of the recent creative social media campaigns we’ve run. Take a look at these, then we can dive into the 4-step process.

Social Media Campaign Idea Development Process

Understanding your audience is crucial if you want to develop a social media campaign idea that resonates with them.

Do your research and outline;

🤔 What TV shows do they watch?

🤔 What music do they listen to?

🤔 What do they talk about with their friends?

🤔 What do they do to socialise?

🤔 What websites do they visit most often?

🤔 What communities are they part of?

🤔 Where do they hang out online?

When you run the social media campaign idea, you want it to focus on a subject the target audience are talking about with their friends in that specific moment.

The example I share in the video is how we tapped into the popularity of the Dancing On Ice launch as this is what the target audience were talking about with their friends at at the time (see example below).

To decipher this topical subject, firstly outline the month the campaign will run and then ask yourself these questions about the target market;

🤔 What TV shows that the target market watch launch in that month?

🤔 What artists that they listen to are dropping an album that month?

🤔 What are they talking about with their friends that month?

🤔 What are they doing to socialise that month?

🤔 What websites will they visit most in that month?

🤔 What communities are they most active in, in that month?

🤔 Where do they hang out online the most in that month?

The next step is to develop creative content ideas that integrate your brand with the highly topical subject. There are a number of creative ways you can do this. I love the recent example below from Oreo. They’ve done a wicked job of integrating their brand with the hype of Game of Thrones.

We recently integrated the launch of Game of Thrones with one of our client’s brands.

BONUS: Use Twitter Advanced Search to identify the most popular themes around your topical subject by searching for relevant keywords and see which tweets are getting the most engagement.

Distribution is just as important as the creative. If not enough of the right people see the creative piece of content, the campaign will flop.

Outline the different distribution channels you will use to get the right people to see the content. Below are some ideas to get you started.

✅ Facebook & Instagram Ads

✅ YouTube Ads

✅ Google Ads

✅ Influencers

✅ Organic Social Media

✅ Relevant Social Media Communities e.g. Facebook Groups

✅ Email Marketing

✅ Send Personal Emails To Influential People You Know
