Sobriety Podcast Summary

Welcome back to another episode of the Business Anchors podcast. Today we’re going to explore a word that’s not always super popular at parties: ‘sober’. Yes, we’re talking about all the amazing perks that come with kicking alcohol to the curb.

We’ll be sharing some of our own stories and experiences, and don’t worry, we’re keeping it real. We’re going to chat about how living sober has made us happier, helped us keep our moods steady, and let us enjoy things like park runs without the nagging hangovers. We’ve set ourselves a pretty big goal – a six-month stretch of sober living.

And you know us, we’re all about the facts and figures. So, we’re also going to discuss some cool data from our fitness trackers, showing the noticeable changes in our resting heart rates, sleep patterns, and other health markers during our sober periods.

So, why are we doing this, you might wonder? Well, between getting hooked on some super informative health podcasts and wanting to boost our mental and physical well-being, we figured we’d give it a shot. Sure, there’s the tricky part of navigating social events and holidays, but hey, we’re committed.

We’ve also got a bunch of tips for those of you thinking of trying out a sober stint. Dan recommends finding a friend to join you on your sober journey, using the “I Am Sober” app to keep track of your progress, and reading “Sober on a Drunk Planet” for some additional motivation. Lloyd suggests planning alternative activities, finding others who are also trying to build new habits, and learning to recognise and deal with triggers.

And of course, we couldn’t forget about the business side of things. We’ve seen first-hand how sobriety can help improve relationships at work, boost productivity and generally help us handle challenges better. It’s a game-changer, folks.

As we wrap up this episode, we’re inviting you, our listeners, to try this sober thing out for yourself – even if it’s just for a month. We’re all about that non-judgement zone, and we’d love to hear from you about your own experiences. By sharing our stories, we hope to inspire more people to enjoy the benefits of living sober.
